Welcome to the 2026 Music Eisteddfod!

To be read in conjunction with the CITY OF WARRNAMBOOL EISTEDDFOD REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS/RULES  (see www.warrnambooleisteddfod.org.au) 

Specific Rules for Instrumental Sections

(see also Specific Rules for Bands)

Instrumental Music and Bands dates are 1st  June to 4th June 2026. 

Note: Entries close Friday 1st May 2026 11pm; Late entries close Monday 4 May, 11pm and will incur a $13 fee;

No entries will be taken after May 5th.

Adjudicator: Mr. Peter Grant

Venues:           Soloists - Mozart Hall, Gilles Street, Warrnambool

                         Duets, Ensembles & Bands - Emmanuel College, Ardlie Street, Warrnambool

                         Piano (Solo & Duets) - Mozart Hall, Gilles Street, Warrnambool

Please Note: There is NO Guitar, Drum or Organ sections for the 2026 year

  • OFFICIAL ACCOMPANIST: for soloists/duets is Mr. Philip Trigg (0409 206 584) email is muso3@bigpond.com
  • All music must be presented in good order to the Accompanist ONE MONTH PRIOR to the performance.  Manuscript copy will not be accepted.  
  • A request for an official accompanist must be noted on entry. A late request may be refused.    Accompanist fee is included in entry fee.
  • BACKING MUSIC: Competitors will be allowed to provide their own backing music. 
  • If you wish to provide your own backing music, we will provide a portable PA system; 
  • Music must be supplied on USB/phone, cued ready to play, at the beginning of the section in which you will be playing (no vocals).
  • One instrument only per competitor in each section
  • MANUSCRIPTS AND MUSIC NOTATION:
  • All bars must be numbered on manuscript copy
  • Adjudicator MUST be supplied with LEGIBLE PHOTOCOPIES of the MUSIC NOTATION (no originals please) which will be returned for destruction following adjudication.
  • It is ESSENTIAL that PRINTED MUSIC NOTATION is provided so the adjudicator can follow the music you are playing. IF NO PRINTED MUSIC NOTATION IS PROVIDED YOU MAY BE DISQUALIFIED.
  • Entry fees will NOT be refunded should competitor fail to compete in any section, once program has been printed.

130 Woodwind/Brass/Strings/Guitar Duet     Novice

Time Limit: 03:00

Any two instruments to be played. One piece - own choice. Where there are two experience different levels, entrants must enter at the higher level. Novice is under 2 years experience

Entry: $15.001st Prize Money & Ribbon + $20          2nd Ribbon          3rd Ribbon          HM Ribbon          
131 Woodwind/Brass/Strings/Guitar Duet     Intermediate

Time Limit: 05:00

Any two instruments to be played. One piece - own choice. Where there are two experience different levels, entrants must enter at the higher level. Intermediate is 2 - 4 years experience

Entry: $15.001st Prize Money & Ribbon + $20          2nd Ribbon          3rd Ribbon          HM Ribbon          
132 Woodwind/Brass/Strings/Guitar Duet     Advanced

Time Limit: 07:00

Any two instruments to be played. One piece - own choice. Where there are two experience different levels, entrants must enter at the higher level. Advanced is 5+ years experience

Entry: $15.001st Prize Money & Ribbon + $30          2nd Ribbon          3rd Ribbon          HM Ribbon
