SPEECH AND DRAMA RULES

1.  COMPETITORS  

(a)   Report to ‘Çheck- in’ desk before your session begins.

(b)  OWN CHOICE PIECES:

(i) A copy must be handed in BEFORE YOUR session begins.

(ii)  Mark SECTION NUMBER and COMPETITOR NUMBER in the TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER of the copy.

(c)   All pieces are to be performed from memory, unless stated otherwise.

2.   SIGHT READINGS and IMPROVISATION TITLE will be provided by the Adjudicator.

3.   COSTUMES  - Required for Drama sections.

4.   PROSE - A memorised extract from a story spoken in a story telling style. It may include  

narration, description and dialogue.

5.   VERSE SPEAKING - Unless stated otherwise, Verse Speaking is Non humorous.

6.   POEM IN PAIRS - A poem recited by 2 people. Some unison work is required.

7.   DRAMA - Dramatisation from a Published or devised piece. Portray  character/s

through language, movement and costume.

8.   TIME LIMITS   - Will be enforced.  Selections may be shorter than the maximum time.

9.  Please be considerate of your audience and stay within the boundaries of good taste.

No expletives or offensive topics allowed.
