DANCING DIVISION RULES & CONDITIONS 2025 CHECK FOR CHANGES
ADJUDICATOR: Natalie Weir, Brisbane
- DUO/TRIO/QUARTET
- Competitors may only enter in one Dance Duo Section.
- Competitors may only enter one Tap Duo Section.
- In the case of Duets, Duos, Trios and Quartets, one of the competitors may be under the Age Limit, but may only enter for one Section.
- MODERN DANCE ROUTINES (ALL EXCEPT GROUPS): Choreography must reflect the style of dance I.e. Jazz, Contemporary or Lyrical technique.
- ACRO: Performance must contain a minimum of 3 acrobatic moves.
- GROUPS
- Competitors cannot perform in more than one Group in the same Section.
- Not less than six competitors.
- Must consist solely of current bone-fide students of the school name
- Groups will be marshalled in C2. Please arrive made-up & dressed as far as possible.
- PERFORMANCE
Competitors coached or prompted will receive a written report and a mark, but will not be placed.
(Except Tiny Tots)
Competitors may restart a forgotten routine but will not be placed.
- MUSICMP3 Upload to Stardom. Bring track on USB as back-up.
- NO CURTAIN for any sections
- DEMI STORIES & NATIONAL TITLES (Optional)
Must be handed to the Marshall prior to Section commencement: Demi: A typed copy, 25 words or less. National: Title only.
- IMPROMPTU DANCE SECTIONS
Music supplied by the Adjudicator. Max time: 2 mins.
Classical: Single colour leotard, pink tights & ballet/pointe shoes. No trims or hair adornment.
Modern: Leotards and tights, or leotards and jazz pants. No trims or hair adornment.
- CHAMPIONSHIP SECTIONS
Tap: One slow routine followed by one quick routine. Distinct contrast in tempo & style must be shown. Competitors must have performed in a Tap Solo.
Classical Ballet:One Classical Solo (pointe) followed by one Demi-character Solo. Competitors must have performed in a Classical or Demi Solo.
Modern Dance: One slow routine followed by one quick routine. Distinct contrast in tempo & style must be shown. Competitors must have performed in a Modern Solo.
- REHEARSAL ON STAGE
- Tiny Tots only (by arrangement with the Eisteddfod Committee).
- First time competitors may request a familiarisation tour of the stage area (by arrangement with the Committee).
- STAGE DIMENSIONS14.7m x 11.8m.
DANCE AWARDS
BALLET BURSARY AND TAP OR MODERN BURSARY
Any Townsville competitor age 15 to 18 who, in the opinion of the Adjudicator, shows the most potential. Must have competed in the relevant Championship.
AWARDS:
· Most outstanding dancer in Tap, Modern or Song & Dance.
· Most outstanding dancer in Classical, Demi-Character or National.
· Most promising Male Dancer.
· Most promising Townsville competitor aged 13 or 14.
· Most promising Townsville competitor aged 12 years and under.
· Most Outstanding Dance Group
