SPEECH & DRAMA 2019

All information with regard to entry, timing, entry fees, prizes and specific conditions for each section is available on the Stardom on-line entry system (www.stardom.com.au). Please refer to Stardom for specific information.

NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE CLOSING DATE.

GENERAL CONDITIONS:

******* It is a requirement that each individual performer, group or school sanction the recording of performance (unless there is a specific reason, for instance a legal condition, for exclusion).

Please be aware publicity shots may be taken during the Eisteddfod. Please advise the Convenors if there is a specific reason - for instance, legal condition - for exclusion of a particular performer.

NOTE: Recorded performances and photography will only be used for advertising the Eisteddfod and will remain the copyright of Warrnambool Eisteddfod Inc.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS

  1. In all Speech “own choice” sections, consideration will be given by the adjudicator to the quality of the selection.
  2. The age at 30.6.2018 shall be deemed the age of the competitor. 
  3. Competitors’ names and birth dates should be on the entry.
  4. Competitors in “own choice” items, excluding Prepared Speech, must submit copies for the adjudicator at registration at least 30 minutes before commencement of section.
  5. Copy of ‘Poem Written by Competitor’ to be forwarded to the convenor nickynoo1960@gmail.com  two weeks prior to the event. If not received by this date, the competitor will not be eligible to compete in the section.
  6. In the ‘Poem for Two’ sections, a competitor may only enter ONCE. NO MULTIPLE ENTRIES WITH ANOTHER PARTNER WILL BE ALLOWED.


SPECIAL EVENTS

Entries are to be confirmed a week prior to the event.

If there are fewer than four confirmed entries for either Special Event, that event will be cancelled.

If the event is cancelled, competitors will be notified by email as soon as possible.

Special Events Sections are not included in Aggregate Points.

AGGREGATE TROPHIES

Sections are: Years 5 & 6; Year 7;  Year 8;  16 years & under;  Open Section

Trophies will be awarded to the competitor with the highest aggregate points in each section.

Points to be calculated on the following basis from solo sections: 1st - 6 points, 2nd- - 4 points, 3rd - 2 points.

Sections 228, 229 & 230 will not be included in the aggregate.

Schools will be asked to sign a receipt when the perpetual trophies are awarded to the school.

228 Own Choice Verse Reading Solo     Secondary School Students

The Beverly Melican Memorial Poetry Award. Competitors must compete in Sections 228, 229 and 230. First prize for the Award is a Trophy and $100, 2nd prize is $50 Entries are to be confirmed a week prior to the event. If there are fewer than 4 confirmed entries, the event will be canceled and competitors notified by email as soon as possible. Any period of writing. Quality of selection will be taken into account. One of the pieces in Sections 228, 229, 230 must be by an Australian poet/author. Please identify the Australian reading when handing in to registration.
