Entrants must register no later than 45 minutes after the session start time as advised on the entrant’s Notice of Appearance. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
Venues
Sections 2.01-2.07: Parkview Room (next to Camberwell Library), 340 Camberwell Rd, Camberwell
The venue will open 45 minutes prior to the commencement of the session.
General
Please refer to the section schedule for specific rules.
Competitors can choose music of their own choice for all sections.
Sections which normally attract large entrant numbers will be divided into heats.
Requests to be in a specific heat MUST be made to the Eisteddfod Coordinator BEFORE close of entries by email, via a note on the database or by phone on (03) 9278 4770.
Contemporary Vocal Sections
Contemporary vocal entrants may perform with or without a PA and may use a single instrument accompaniment or a good-quality backing track (instrumental only, without vocal content). A PA system with one microphone and CD player as well as a grand piano will be provided.
A foldback system will be in place.
Official Accompanist Fee: $2.00
Section 2.05 - Boroondara Eisteddfod Vocal Championship Award
Choice of work for heats: One operatic aria is to be sung.
Choice of work for final: The aria performed in the heat is to be sung together with one other contrasting piece (i.e. lieder or art song) that the contestant has not already sung in any other section at this year’s Eisteddfod.
Eligibility: To be eligible to compete in this section, entrants must perform in at least one of sections 2.01 to 2.04. For 2.02 to qualify, the entry performed in that section must be from a Viennese Operetta.
Special Awards:
Robert Stolz Viennese Music Society Award
Prize: $200 (separate entry not required)
This award will be made to the best performance of a selection from Viennese Operetta in section 2.02.
SUPPORTER: ROBERT STOLZ VIENNESE MUSIC SOCIETY AWARD
Herman Schildberger Memorial Award
Prize: $600 (separate entry not required)
This award will be made to a singer aged between 18 and 25 (from sections 2.01 to 2.05) whom the adjudicator considers to have the most promise and to be worthy of encouragement.
