DIVISION 11 - SPEECH AND DRAMA CHAMPIONSHIPS

a.      These sections are run in 2 parts – (a) and (b).

b.      100 marks are allocated. 50 marks for each selection.

c.       Marks and placings will be announced at the end of the second part of the Section.

220 SPEECH AND DRAMA CHAMPIONSHIP     Open

Session: 06/08/2021 5:30 PM    Time Limit: 10:00

1. All pieces must be at least Year 6 AMEB standard (or equivalent). 2. Candidate to perform: (a) Own choice Shakespearian Drama - Costume suitable to support characterisation or blacks AND (b) Verse Speaking - Selected from Set Verse Speaking Choices AND (c) Own Choice Australian Poetry - Must be Australian poet but not necessarily an Australian theme. 3. Individual Time limits: minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 5 minutes for each selection. The City of Toowoomba Eisteddfod Inc. Trophy for Shakespearian Drama (non-perpetual), will be awarded to the competitor gaining the highest marks in Shakespearian Drama.

221 SPEECH AND DRAMA CHAMPIONSHIP     Years 10 to 12

Session: 06/08/2021 5:30 PM    Time Limit: 10:00

This section is run in two parts: A and B 1. Competitors must compete in at least two (2) other Speech and Drama Solo sections. 2. All pieces must be at least Grade 5 AMEB standard (or equivalent). 3. Two (2) selections to be presented: a. Modern Lyric Poem "Modern" includes lyric poems from 1950 to the present. A Lyric poem may contain elements of story but the primary poetic intention is to convey feeling. b. Modern Dramatic Interpretation "Modern" includes plays written from 1950 to the present.
