SPECIAL RULES

Music

Verses for Own Choice Vocal Pieces (Solo/Group) must be limited to three (3) verses) and appropriate choruses.

Where costume/make-up changes are not involved, the Competitor may perform no more than TWICE in a Duo, Trio or Group Section, provided there is a change of performer/s.

All Accompaniment Sections entrants MUST perform with a Soloist, who will not be judged.

Conductors may accompany Choral and Group Items if they wish.

SUBMISSION OF OWN CHOICE AND SET PIECE SELECTIONS

It is imperative that the Own Choice Adjudicator Copies and Set Piece selections (where a choice is offered) be in the hands of the Secretary no later than 26^th April - three (3) weeks prior to the Eisteddfod.

Own Choice and Set Piece Selection form WITH Copyright Form 2 can be downloaded from the Web Site – Forms Tab.

If using recorded backing music for vocals (only where permitted), CD of music is to be submitted with Own Choice copy OR digital file is to be emailed.

Late ‘Own Choice’ Selections will incur a $10.00 Fee which must accompany the selection.

Any requests to change or substitute a copy already submitted must be in writing and accompanied by $10.00 Fee prior to the commencement of that competition i.e. Music, Speech/Drama.

Numbering of Bars

Bars of music must be numbered in own choice submissions.

ACCOMPANIST

Competitors must make their own arrangement for Accompanists at the time of entry to avoid disappointment. Please ensure AMCOS Form 5 for Accompanists is completed where required. AMCOS Form 5 can be downloaded from the web site –Form Tab – Music.

Must be contacted at date of entries close.
Music Teachers' Association of Queensland Inc. recommended Accompanist Fee:-

One 1/2 hour Rehearsal and Performance to Grade 6 - $65.00

COPYRIGHT REQUIREMENTS

The committee shall not be responsible for any infringement of copyright or royalty by individual performers or persons associated with the performance. Performers photocopying music for the adjudicator's copy do so at their own risk and no responsibility is accepted.

Please ensure ALL relevant copyright forms are completed, signed and submitted with Adjudication copies. AMCOS Form 2 can be downloaded from the Web Site – Forms Tab. NB: These forms are part of the Own Choice/Set Piece Form.

Guidelines for the use of photocopies

Adjudicator's copy

Set Pieces - The Adjudicator must work from an Original or Licensed photocopy.

Own Choice - The Competitor MUST supply the Adjudicator with a photocopy provided:

(i) The copy is accompanied by a completed AMCOS Form 2 found on the Web Site – Forms Tab – Own Choice/Set Piece Selection Form.

(ii) The Eisteddfod Committee will destroy the Copy immediately after the Adjudication.

If the Competitor is not performing from memory, an Original or Licensed photocopy MUST be used in the performance. This Original can be a borrowed Original i.e. borrowed from a library, a friend, or other Competitor etc.

Schools entering eisteddfods:

Choirs, Vocal/Choral Groups, Orchestras, Bands, and Instrumental Ensembles.

To be eligible to compete in an Eisteddfod, School Groups must perform from purchased original sheets (e.g.: Choral sheets, Albums of pieces, Vocal scores, sets of bands or Orchestral parts, etc.) In addition, they may also rely on the AMCOS Licensed Copies, to be used in conjunction with and, as a supplement to, their originals. Prior to the performance, the Eisteddfod Committee will check that the competing School Group will be playing from the originals, supplemented on occasions by the permitted numbers of extra photocopies under the AMCOS License.
