Specific Music Conditions of Entry 2021


Please read in conjunction with General Rules and the Conditions of Entry for each discipline.


COPYRIGHT – In accordance with Federal statutes competitors must use the original materials or have permission from the relevant owners of copyright to make and use copies of copyright material at this Eisteddfod. Bendigo Competitions Society Inc. will not be liable for any infringements regarding copyright.


1.  RISK:

1.1       All competitors enter and perform at this competition at their own risk.

 

2.  ENTRY:

2.1       Music Competition is open to amateurs.

2.2       Competitors are not entitled to a refund in cases of non-appearance in any section.

2.3       Refund of entry money will not be granted following registration.

2.4       A condition of entry is that an administration fee is required per family - if multiple

entries are entered on one entry each family is required to pay the administration fee.  

 

 3.  ADJUDICATOR:

3.1.     The decisions of the Adjudicators are final, and no discussion or correspondence can be entered into.

3.2       No person may communicate with the Adjudicator during the course of the competition.

 

4. MUSIC:                                                                                                                                                   

4.1       Competitors must provide music to the booking office (for the Adjudicator) well in advance of the commencement of their section/s. Early booking, with music   photocopied in readiness prior to booking in  would assist the Society with the smooth running of the Eisteddfod.

4.2      Prior to coming to Book-in, ensure all music for the Adjudicator has already been photocopied.  Photocopied scores must be provided for the Adjudicator in all disciplines, (except the Contemporary Vocal discipline.) Please do not provide music books to be given to the adjudicator.

4.3       Original music should be use for the Accompanist. If this is impracticable photocopies may be used, providing the competitor can produce the original music to comply with copyright rules.

4.4       No competitor or teacher identification, or distinguishing marks are permitted. However, it would be helpful if each score was clearly marked – on the top right-hand corner – with the Section number and Competitor’s number (as per Official Program) prior to being provided to the booking office.

4.5       All bars must be clearly marked and numbered on music scores to be handed to the adjudicator.

4.6       In compliance with copyright rules photocopies will not be returned to competitors.

4.7       The Society does not accept any responsibility for music books or scores, USBs, CDs or other devices not collected backstage or from the office immediately after the 

            section finishes.

4.8       For Music sections that specify AMEB/ANZCA levels, competitors may only enter the level being studied in the current year. A useful reference is the “AMEB

            Schedule of Syllabuses.


5. AUDIO EQUIPMENT AND EFFECTS:

5.1       A professional sound system comprising a CD player, MP3 and ipod facility is provided at the venue, along with a person to play the music. 

5.2       Backing tracks can be on a CD or MP3 format on a USB. Ensure the backing is of good quality. A recommendation of Bendigo Competitions Society Inc. is a

commercially purchased backing through iTunes or similar (not converted from YouTube.) It is essential you a duplicate copy on a CD, or a phone, as a back-up. The CD player can handle commercial CD and CD-R disks, but not CD-RW (recordable disks).

  1.         5.3     The Competitor's name should be clearly written on the CD using an appropriate pen, with details clearly visible through its protective case. Do not use labels                       on the CD as this may cause CD failure.  Please label files as follows: Competitor’s name –   Section number, Song Title. e.g. Mary Jones – MV294 – “Mary Poppins”
  1.         5.4       A separate USB or CD for each event is required. CDs should be in a pocket or case with USBs in suitable packaging that allows labelling. 

5.5       The USB or CD to have ONE  SONG ONLY – Multiple songs on the one device will not be accepted.

5.6       No responsibility will be taken for dirty or faulty CDs, Please check on a CD player   (NOT a computer) that the CD plays in a CD player.

5.7       Competitor are responsible for collecting their recordings, from the foyer, immediately after the section.

            

 

6. TIME LIMITS:

6.1       Competitors are to limit their items to reasonable lengths and where stated adhere to time limits. REPEATS SHOULD BE AVOIDED within an item.

6.2       The timing of an event will begin with the commencement of the music and end with the conclusion of the music.  It is a condition of entries that time limits are adhered to.

6.3 Time Limits for each section: Please note a Discipline Schedule with time limits etc. can be accessed by clicking "Discipline Schedule"                                                                         (Shown in in blue on the top centre of the screen) when opening the relevant discipline on the screen when you are choosing sections to enter.                                                        Alternatively "Discipline Schedule" can be accessed on the Society's website - www.bendigocomps.org.au -                                                                                                                 Click on 'schedule.'  Then select "Stardom Schedule" from the drop down menu. When clicked it opens each discipline for information such as Time Limits etc.


7. AGE GROUPS:

7.1       In any section subject to an age limit, a competitor’s age as of 1st January (Year of the Competition) is deemed to be the age of the competitor.

7.2       Competitors may choose to enter older age groups as well as their own age group except when a section stipulates the lower age group. (e.g. 13-17 years.)

 

8. MUSIC STANDS:

8.1       Music stands will be available for all sections in all disciplines.

 

9. DUETS OR ENSEMBLES:

9.1        Individuals competitors may be part of more than one duet or ensemble in a section.

9.2        The same duet or ensemble may only enter once in a particular section.

 

10. COMMUNICATION:

10.1        Competitors must provide a valid email address with their entry.

10.2        Communication with competitors regarding confirmation of entry, and approximate timetable of events will normally be done by email.

 

11. LEILA WATSON MEMORIAL MUSIC CHAMPIONSHIP:

11.1        The Committee reserves the right to invite one or more competitors to participate in this Invitational Championship.

 

12.  DISQUALIFICATION:

12.1        Any competitor incorrectly appearing in any section will be disqualified from the relevant section. This applies to solos, duets or ensembles.

 

13. RESTARTS:

13.1      A competitor who stops when performing an item will be allowed to restart the item at the end of the section for a critique only. However, if the restart is caused  by a technical fault in equipment or the wrong music has been played, a restart for adjudication will be allowed providing the fault is quickly corrected.

 

14. REHEASALS:

14.1       No rehearsal is permitted on the stage during the Eisteddfod.
