Peter was the son of Arthur and Lila Ryall. He grew up in Strathfieldsaye, attended Strathfieldsaye Primary School, White Hills Technical School and the Bendigo Institute of Technology where he qualified to be a Civil Engineer. He moved to Bendigo and worked for Vic Roads for many years. Peter enjoyed travelling through Australia and overseas. He also enjoyed working as a volunteer for the Bendigo Visitor Centre, Vision Australia and was an active member of the Bendigo South Rotary Club.

SPECIAL ADJUDICATOR'S AWARDS
The Adjudicator will present four Encouragement Awards, which are the gift of the Peter Ryall Memorial Trust. These prizes are valued at $250 each, being awarded to the four choirs the adjudicator considers the most deserving.
MUSIC TITLES: Competitors are required to include the music title (and where possible the Composer) of each item to be performed, with each entry. If this is not available when submitting each entry, THE TITLE MUST be added NO LATER THAN 21 days prior to performance.
SCHOOL CHOIR MUSIC TITLES MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN FRIDAY 10TH MAY
DEFINITIONS OF NOVICE AND OPEN AS RELATED TO SCHOOL CHOIRS. (New guidelines for 2019) The Society has re-defined the guidelines for the terms 'Novice' and "Open' as related to sections for School Choirs - both Primary and Secondary Levels. NOVICE (NEW) CHOIR: A Novice (New) Choir being one that has the majority of its members who have been performing together for less than 12 months. OPEN (ESTABLISHED) CHOIR: An Open (Established) Choir being one that has the majority of its members who have been performing together for 12 months or more.
JUNIOR PRIMARY (Up to and including Year 4 students) LEVEL CHOIRS (New section for 2019) Junior Primary Level Choirs are designed for students up to and including Year 4. Each Choir must present a program of two (2) songs. Harmony is optional.
SHOW PERFORMANCE ENSEMBLES (New section for 2019) Each Choir must present a program of at least two (2) Contrasting Styles which may be contained within a medley. a) The focus being on entertainment, in conjunction with consideration being on the choral elements. b) It is intended to incorporate Choral singing with other performance elements (e.g. featuring Soloists or duets/trios, movement / basic choreography.) c) Whilst Soloists or duets/trios can be a feature in this section they are not permitted to dominate or perform for more than 25% of each song. d) Choir risers will not be on stage during this section.
GOSPEL, SACRED,SPIRITUAL, WORSHIP ENSEMBLES (New section for 2019) a) Each Choir must present any two (2) songs in the genre of Gospel, Sacred, Spiritual and/or Worship to be presented in a style suitable for the songs being performed. b) The program presented must include a two-part harmony and unison.
All schools competing will receive either a Gold, Silver or Bronze Certificate for the school, plus commemorative ribbons for each member of the choir.
