RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. Every care will be taken for competitors’ safety, but the Committee will not be responsible for any injuries sustained by any competitor and or damage to property during the Eisteddfod.

 

  1. By entering the Border District Eisteddfod you agree to abide by the rules and regulations as outlined in this 2019 Schedule.

 

  1. Entries will not be accepted unless accompanied by the correct entry fee.  Entry fees are not refundable unless cancelled by the Committee or there is an error in the program.

 

  1. AGE IS DETERMINED AS AT 1ST JANUARY, 2019.The committee reserves the right to ask for proof of age.

 

  1. Time limits must be observed.  An item may be shorter than the limit but not exceed it. To meet time limits, excerpts of poems are acceptable and stanzas may be omitted from poems

 

  1. Copies of own choice poems/talks ect must be received by the Committee by Friday 24th May, 2019.

  1. Competitors must be aware of copyright responsibilities.  The Border District Eisteddfod is in no way responsible for personal breach of copyright.  If in doubt, APRA & AMCOS may be contacted directly or speak to your teacher.

 

  1. Competitor’s names and/or photographs may be used for promotional or marketing purposes.  Should this not be appropriate the Eisteddfod Committee MUST be notified.

 

  1. The adjudicators decision is final.
  2. Unless specifically invited by the adjudicator, contact with the adjudicator must not be made directly by teachers, competitors or parents.

 

Adjudicator comment sheets can be obtained from the table at the back of hall.

 

SPEECH AND PERFORMANCE AWARDS

  1. STANTHORPE LITTLE THEATRE AWARD.  Awarded to the student showing the greatest promise in Drama and Performance sections.  Prize donated by Stanthorpe Little Theatre.
  2. THE BETTY PAINE AWARD.  Awarded to the Choral Speaking group with the highest mark in Years Prep – 2 -  Sections 110-111.
  3. The MARY McLUCAS AWARD.  Awarded to the Choral Speaking group with the highest mark in sections 106-109.
  4. THE MARGARET OSBOURNE ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD.  To be chosen by the adjudicator and awarded to the most promising Choral Speaking group.
  5. RECITATION CHAMPION - PRIMARY and $25 for the highest mark for an Individual Recitation - Sections 96-101.
  6. MOST PROMISING RECITATION - PRIMARY
  7. RECITATION CHAMPION- SECONDARY and $25 for the highest mark for an Individual Recitation - Sections 102-105.
  8. MOST PROMISING RECITATION – SECONDARY
  9. ITALIAN CHAMPION and $25 for the highest mark for an Individual Recitation.

NOTE: Competitors need to observe the following criteria:

     (a) Keep all the voices in time to enable the listener to enjoy the full impact of the rhythm.

     (b) Make sure you understand all the words and the intention of the poetry.

     (c) Students need to be able to demonstrate the emotion of the piece with subtle use of facial and

           physical expressions.

     (d) It is preferable that own choice poem contrasts with chosen poem.

     NOTE: Eye contact helps the listeners to feel part of the experience and clear diction allows them to hear and understand each word.
