ENTRIES, VIA STARDOM, CLOSE MONDAY 6^TH JUNE, 2022 at Midnight

ENTRY FEES:

This competition will be held on Saturday 17^th September 2022 as part of the Townsville Eisteddfod being conducted from September 6^th to 24^th 2022.

1. This competition is registered with FNQRCHDI – FNQC12/22 and will be conducted under the rules and conditions as set down by SOBHD and as adopted by ABHDI.
2. Dancers must be registered and present their registration card on day of competition.
3. Dancers are to compete in their own Age Group and one classification only.
4. Age to be taken as at date of competition, 18^th September 2022, in accordance with SOBHD rulings.  The Age Limit for all competitors is Age 18 and under before 31 December 2022.  Competitors who are not eligible for other Sections of the Eisteddfod are not eligible for Highland Sections.
5. Age Groupings for Sections will be decided on receipt of entries.
6. Competitors must use the Official music and swords provided by the Committee.
7. Organiser to be notified IMMEDIATELY of a change of classification; if a dancer is unable to compete after submitting an entry.
8. Entries must be accompanied by entry fees and no entries will be accepted after the closing date.
9. Dancers arriving late for a Section will not be allowed to compete if the dance has been completed. Alternatively, competitors may not pre-dance prior to the commencement of a Section.
10.  No warm-up or practicing is permitted inside the hall whilst dancers are competing.
11.  Dancers to observe the ABHDI direction ‘competitors should be modestly attired at all times’.
12.  It is a directive of the ABHDI that dancers use dressing rooms to change costumes and dress fully, appropriately and respectably when in public at competitions.
13.  PRE-PREMIER - Eligibility for Pre-Premier Section will apply as at date of competition and shall be in accordance with SOBHD registration scheme.
14. Dancers must ‘fill in’ if requested by the Organiser. If a competitor fails to fill in unless for a medical reason the Organiser has the right to enforce Rule 1g, Page 42 D-Judges, SOBHD Rules and Regulations, which reads: Provided due prominence is given to the fact in the program or in a brochure by the Organiser, then during the course of a competition the comportment of the competitors may come under the jurisdiction of the judges, not only whilst dancing, but also when entering or leaving the platform and whilst waiting for the dance to start.  Any unseemly behaviour on the part of a competitor or any misdemeanour likely to upset the decorum of the proceedings may be penalised by the judges and could lead to disqualification, but a full report of any such misconduct on the part of a competitor must be submitted by the judges to the Organiser.
15. The use of electronic devices of any kind to record competing dancers will NOT be permitted.
16. Any complaint made by an individual against the organisation or the adjudication of an event must be in writing stating the complainant's full name and address and be lodged with the organiser, if possible on the day of the event, and no later than 48 hours after the event. Such a complaint is to be accompanied by a fee of $5.00, which is refundable if the protest is upheld.
17.  Subject to the Official protest ruling, the Judge’s decision is final.
18.  Scrutineering system for Championships, Titles and Aggregates awards will be as per the SOBHD   Constitution.
19.  For presentation of prizes on stage, dancers must be in kilt or national costume. Competitor’s number must be worn.
20.  The Committee reserves the right to appoint substitute Adjudicators and/or alter the program at any time.
21. Teachers, interested parties or any other unauthorised person must not communicate with judges during a competition. All enquiries must be made at the Official table.
22. Dancers compete entirely at their own risk.
23. Any rules pertaining to competitions released from SOBHD or ABHDI from time of printing this schedule and actual date of competition will be adhered to.
24.  a. Following the awards, parents may photograph their own child or others with parental permission but be highly aware that there must not be other children in shot whose privacy must be protected.

           b. We plan to photograph winning competitors for posting on our Website. Please indicate if you wish to opt out of this. 

 HIGHLAND AWARDS

Bursary: Any Townsville competitor in the Premier Division who, in the opinion of the Adjudicator, shows the most potential.

AWARDS:

• Encouragement for an Intermediate dancer.
• Encouragement for a Novice dancer.

CHOREOGRAPHY RULES

1. A choreography competition is open to registered dancers; the Age Groups are set by the organiser.  As such, younger dancers will be required to “dance up” where required.
2.  Dancers in this category will be SOBHD registered.
3. It is permissible for Pre-Premier dancers to be included in teams with Premier Dancers.
4. Contents of the dance should consist primarily but not exclusively from movements from Highland, National, Jig and Hornpipe.
5. A maximum of five minute time Limit is set to include entrance and exit of competitors and setting up and removal of props.
6. Teams may use props during their performance, either static or non-static, but live animals are not permitted.
7. Costumes must be in keeping with the music, although separate prizes should not be awarded for costume
8. Music may be live or pre-recorded. Music should be predominately Celtic or Scottish in style, although music with a nautical theme is acceptable.
9. Teams should consist of:

1.   One school only.
2.   More than one school, in which case the teacher/choreographer must abide by the three month teaching rule.

10. Group entries to be submitted by teachers only.
