BRASS BANDS CONTEST

Entries must be received by 30 June 2024

Tentative Dates: Sunday, 8th September 2024
(NB Performances will be in the Gippsland Performing Arts Centre (GPAC) and warm up in the Town Hall Theatre in the adjoining Latrobe Performing Arts Complex)

BRASS BANDS CONTEST - RULES

Please ensure you also read the "General Conditions of Competitions" carefully - in Stardom these are accessed by using the link labelled "Program Rules".

  • All bands should forward a full score of works to be performed in sections 225, 226, 227, 228 and 229 to: PO Box 384 Traralgon 3844 (prior to 1st September).
  • Bands are required to use existing stage setup.
  • Entries Close 30th June, 2024
  • Bands are required to use the percussion instruments provided. Please contact Traralgon City Band prior to the Eisteddfod for any special arrangements. Otherwise, Bands are to provide their own specialised equipment.
  • Brass Band Spring Contest Bands in grades A, B, C & D will be required to perform a 25 minute maximum concert program of 3 (three) contrasting items.
  • Sections 225 - 228 inclusive are run under VBL Rules.
VBL Rules:
a. All rules of the Victorian Bands League (VBL) will be strictly enforced. The latest version of the VBL contest rules are available on the VBL website at https://vbl.org.au/publications/rules-and-regulations. It is a condition of entry that all competitors agree to be bound by these rules.

REGISTRATION OF BANDS:
b. All bands that wish to compete in sections 225 – 228 must be registered with the VBL or another recognised Australasian Band Association.

REGISTRATION OF PLAYERS:
c. All individuals that compete on-stage in sections 219 – 222 at the Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod must be registered with the VBL by 24th August 2024 to compete in this contest. Go to https://vbl.org.au/about-us/membership for more information on registering individuals.

CONTEST DECLARATIONS & PLAYER LISTS:
d. A signed Contest Declaration and Player List form must be submitted to the VBL by 24th August 2024. These forms can be found at https://vbl.org.au/publications/forms-and-fees

BANDS PLAYING IN OTHER GRADES
e. Open grade bands may compete in the grade immediately above their current grade, provided that the band also competes in its own grade at the same contest.
f. Junior grade bands may also compete in Open D Grade, provided that the band also competes in its own grade at the same contest.

REPETITION OF ITEMS
g. No band is permitted to play any item in more than one section at any contest.
