THEATRICAL DANCING

Entries must be received by 30 Jun 2026 (or earlier cut-off if limits are reached)

Dates: Friday 18^th September to Sunday 27^th September 2026 (NB Theatrical Dancing will be held in GPAC and Town Hall Theatres, Traralgon)

THEATRICAL DANCING RULES

Please read the "General Conditions of Competitions" (from page 2) carefully - in Stardom these are accessed by using the link labelled "Program Rules".

Age at 1st January of the current year will be used for all Dance sections.
Please observe time limits - all solos and duos will be a maximum of 3 minutes while Song and Dance will be a maximum of 4 minutes. Troupes will be a maximum of 5 minutes.
A minimum of dancers in Troupes is 5 members.
Note Condition 15 in General Rules - sections may be combined or cancelled if insufficient entries are received.
No Pointe shoes for performers Under 12 years.
Performers in Scholarships and Championships are themselves responsible for fulfilling all qualifying conditions.
Any Open performer who incorrectly enters a Novice section, dances in that section for critique only and forfeits their right to compete in Championships or Scholarships.
Performers entering solo sections shall only enter their own age group in that genre in either Open or Novice – not both.
Novice entrants – note Condition 8 in General Conditions.
Responsibility for Copyright Registration lies with the Dance Schools.
Music will be uploaded to Music Uploads for all sections. Please check each piece of music after uploading for clarity and length.
Checking in rule: Check in backstage before you dance. If you miss your place you dance for a crit only.
If you leave the stage during your performance you dance for a crit only, unless it is event error. Performers uploading the incorrect music is not an event error.
Stage effects - helium balloons, lighted candles, sparklers, lighted cigarettes, explosive devices, (e.g. party poppers) glass, liquids or naked flame - are not permitted. Snow generators or aerosol sprays are not permitted. Talcum powder or similar is not to be used in props, hair or costumes. Rosin is not to be used on the stage.
Props - all props, back drops, etc. must be removed from the stage area immediately after use and not stored backstage.
No preparation of wardrobe or hair outside of the dressing rooms (includes spraying of hair spray, fake tan or sparkling of glitter) is permitted. This applies strictly in the area near the kiosk.
No food or drink (bottled water excepted) are to be consumed in dressing rooms.
Duos/Trios entries must include names and dates of birth of each performer and the Dance School.
Teachers or non-members of groups, who are not on stage, are not to give assistance to groups or solos performing on stage.
Inappropriate language and movements are not appreciated.
The Committee expects behaviour of performers and audience to be appropriate to the occasion.
Performances and music should be appropriate to the performer's age.
All Abilities sections are open to individuals or groups (for purpose of All Abilities, a group is 2 or more performers) who are enrolled or registered in either a supported community or supported education program or registered with National Disability Insurance Agency.
To give equal consideration to all performers the committee advises that only one teacher or supporter is allowed in the backstage area. No prompting permitted.
All performers who compete in Championship or Scholarship sections will be required to complete 2 volunteer shifts or provide someone to volunteer on their behalf.

Solo sections will be limited to 7 solos only.

The Cameron Morgan, Spiritual, Own Choreography, Championships and Scholarship sections will not be counted as part of this limit. Any solo entry in excess of the 7 solos only limit will be reduced back to 7 at our discretion and refund will not be made.

Spiritual section will be limited to 25 entries.

Due to the popularity of this event we reserve the right to close dance entries early when limits are reached.
