CHORAL & VOCAL RULES

Please ensure you also read the "General Conditions of Competitions" carefully - in Stardom these are accessed by using the link labelled "Program Rules".

Please observe time limits as overrun may result in points being deducted by the Adjudicator.
It is recommended that you purchase a programme at the time you submit your entry. It includes full details of all competitors and sections listed in order of scheduled performance and dates/times and will be posted to you in advance.
It is recommended that performers in the Vocal Sections organise a rehearsal with the accompanist prior to the Eisteddfod if needed. You are responsible for making contact and the necessary arrangements with the accompanist. Her contact details are listed above.
The official accompanist is not available for choral performances or contemporary vocal (sections 350 and 351). Choral groups must provide their own accompanists or upload backing tracks.
NO rehearsals are permitted during the running of the Eisteddfod.
Any sheet music provided to the Adjudicator must have all bars numbered. This is necessary for ease of reference by the Adjudicator in verbal/written crits provided.
WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SECTIONS 350 AND 351 (see further requirements for sections 350 and 351 below at paragraphs 12 to 18 inclusive) - it is a condition of entry that a copy of sheet music must be provided for the Adjudicator and official Accompanist. The original music copy must be used by the performer on stage.
Prizes: Unless otherwise stated: First Place - Medallion; Second & Third Place - Medals.
A first prize-winning item may not be re-entered in the following year.
WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SECTIONS 350 AND 351 (see further requirements for sections 350 and 351 below at paragraphs 12 to 18 inclusive) - No recorded backing tracks, microphones, electronic keyboards or other amplified instruments are permitted in the VOCAL sections.
However, recorded backing tracks, microphones, electronic keyboards and other amplified instruments ARE permitted in the both the CHORAL sections and also in SECTIONS 350 and 351.
Any music recordings for Sections 350 and 351 and CHORAL sections must be uploaded to “Music Uploads” at least one week prior to performance (further instructions will be provided closer to the date). Please check each recording after uploading for clarity and length.
For the purposes of Sections 350 and 351, Contemporary Popular Vocal pieces include contemporary popular songs only, e.g. pop, rock, pop ballad, blues, folk, jazz, hip hop, RnB, swing, soul and country, BUT DO NOT INCLUDE music theatre or character songs.
For the purposes of Sections 350 and 351, it is not necessary to supply music scores to the Adjudicator, but any such music so supplied must feature numbered bars (see rule 6 above).
For the purposes of Sections 350 and 351, performers MAY, but are not obliged to, perform with a microphone.
For the purposes of Sections 350 and 351, performers may perform to a professional recorded backing track which may contain vocal harmony, but must not contain a vocal melody.
For the purposes of Sections 350 and 351, it is the performer’s responsibility to ensure that recorded backing tracks are correct and authorised. Please do not convert backing tracks from YouTube which may breach copyright. Use only backing tracks purchased through iTunes or similar.
For the purposes of Sections 350 and 351, Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod will provide a piano if required and microphones ( both roving and standard )
