RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 2025

1. Entries will be offered as a first preference to those who danced in our 2024 competition. Entries from these dancers are to be lodged on Stardom before the closing date. Should any time allocation remain, second preference entries will be given to other dancers according to our entry process. No entry will be accepted unless accompanied by the full entry fee.

2. The Adjudicator’s decision on all matters relating to dancing is final.

3. All competitors will dance at their own risk.

4. The Committee will not be held responsible for lost or damaged property.

5. Age of competitors to be determined as at 1st of January 2025. The Committee reserves the right to request proof of age at any stage of the Eisteddfod.

6. The Committee reserves the right to cancel/combine any solo, duo/trio or troupe sections in which less than three entries have been received.

7. A competitor who has not won a first or second place in a dance Eisteddfod during the past three years may enter novice in that style of dance at this competition.

8. Due to restricted space side stage, only one teacher or parent is permitted per dancer. This adult is required to obtain a Teachers Pass name tag prior to the competition.

9. Competitors may reappear for a crit at the end of that section if they leave the stage during the item. If it is through no fault of their own, the competitor may reappear without disadvantage.

10. Competitors must appear in the program order. This may only be varied at the discretion of the committee.

11. Competitors may appear only once in any section (including duos/trios/troupes).

12. Once entries are accepted, fees are not refundable.

13. Groups of five may compete as a troupe.

14. ‘Own Choreography’ items are to be choreographed by the competitors. ie. strictly no help from the dance teacher. Only committee members and competitors in that section are permitted side stage during all Own Choreography sections. NO TEACHERS SIDE STAGE.

‘Own Choreography’ items may not be performed more than once at this Eisteddfod.

15. Communication with the adjudicator is strictly prohibited, with the exception of the

committee or their helpers.

16. Protests must be made in writing, signed by the protestor and lodged at the Secretary’s table not more than 15 minutes after the adjudication. Protests must be accompanied by a $20 deposit which will be forfeited should the Committee deem the protest to be unsubstantiated.

17. All sections are open to amateurs only. Professional dancers and teachers who derive their living from dance are not permitted to compete.

18. Students having dance lessons by the Adjudicator on a regular basis during the past year, for more than 10 weeks, will not be eligible to enter this competition.

19. The use of mobile phones, cameras or recording equipment will not be permitted in the theatre whilst competitors are performing, with the exception of a video camera if hired by the committee.

20. Time limits will be strictly adhered to. Performance time is taken from the start of correct music or movement of the competitor (whichever occurs first) until the competitor stops dancing, leaves the stage or the curtain falls (which ever occurs first) Timing does not include the reverence.

21. Music with vocal background whilst competitor is singing in song and dance sections is not permitted.

22. Music on CD’s or tapes will not be permitted ie. digital devices only to be used.

23. Committee reserves the right to appoint another adjudicator if necessary.

24. Props considered dangerous by the Committee will not be allowed.

25. Blackouts are not available for tap, classical or national. Curtains will be used for troupes.

26. Sections may be combined, cancelled or divided at the Committee’s discretion.

27. Competitors must dance in their own age group with the exception of troupes, duos and trios, where the section entered will be determined by the age of the oldest entrant.

28. No person will be allowed to compete under any name other than that sent to the

Committee on the entry form.

29. Pointe shoes are only allowed to be worn on stage by competitors 12 years and over.

30. The Committee reserves the right to disqualify any competitor for any action not in

accordance with the rules.

31. Due to time restraints, competitors may enter no more than 5 solos and 3 duo/trios.

32. Troupe entries will only be accepted from dance schools within the Local Government Areas of: South Gippsland, Latrobe and Wellington Shires.

33. All royalties and copyright fees payable are the responsibility of the competitor.

34. Anything not covered in these rules will be decided by the committee.
