Please read the General Rules and Division-Specific Rules carefully to avoid disqualification.

All competitors are required to frequently check the Eisteddfod website for the latest updates.

SPEECH AND DRAMA GENERAL RULES

  1. Prompts will only be given by the adjudicator.
  2. Own choice of material.
  3. The Set Verse Choices for Verse Speaking must be taken from the editions listed and are available from the Speech and Drama convenor at toowoombaeisteddfod.speech@gmail.com

DIVISION 10 - SPEECH AND DRAMA GROUPS

GROUP DRAMATISATION OF A POEM 

  1.         Group dramatisation of a poem MUST be POETRY performed by three or more people.
  2.         Blacks/Costumes and basic sets and props appropriate to the material may be used.
  3.         The time allowed is for the complete dramatisation of a poem but may not exceed 5 minutes. 
  4.         Time allowed for bumping in and bumping out is one minute each.  

MIME GROUP

  1.        Group to consist of three or more players.
  2.        Mime costuming of black clothing and/or white clothing ONLY.
  3.        No props other than a chair(s) may be used.
  1. Background music is optional. Sound equipment will be provided by the Eisteddfod Association. The equipment provided uses an earphone jack – NO CD or other medium can be used.
  1.        Own choice of material.

Time limit: Minimum 3, maximum 5 minutes.
